1. Hockey Northland Sponsorship
USN have been a sponsor of Hockey Northland for many years now, and we are proud to have signed on again for the 2018 season.  Hockey Northland has grown over the years to become one of the largest Hockey Associations in New Zealand.  The facility now has three artificial water turfs, with over 2,800 local players that use the facility and over 210,000 people through the gates each year.
  2. We were flicking through some old photo albums last weekend when we came across this old clipping from the Northern Advocate in December 1980! Brent Kallu and Mary MacKinnon (Kallu) and their adorable dog Flossie, taking part in the Onerahi Christmas Parade on the Detection Alarms float (then owned by their Dad, John Kallu). Apparently Flossie’s barks could be heard from one end of the parade to the other  😂 Another small piece of USN history…..
  3. New Clients
We would like to welcome a number of new Monitoring clients this quarter, including:
    – Unichem Buchanans Mansfield and Unichem Buchanans Kiripaka Pharmacies
    – Kaikohe Intermediate School
    – Kaikohe East School
    – Kaikohe West School
    – Fastway Waipapa Branch
    – Bakers Crust Kamo
  4. Every month we attend the City Safe Operations meeting at the Council office.  City Safe is a collaborative partnership between Whangarei District Council, Northland Regional Council, New Zealand Police and Chamber of Commerce Northland aimed at ensuring a safer city and community. In practice, City Safe is everyone working together to keep our city and communities safe, working to create a wider partnership network of resources in and around the CBD, suburbs and local communities.  You may have seen the City Safe officers around town and in the Cameron St Mall keeping an eye on things!  There are a number of local businesses and agencies such as Housing NZ and Manaia PHO that come to these meetings, and they are extremely beneficial in keeping up to date with what is going on in our city.  USN also provide the telephone answering service for the City Safe after hours calls.
