- On Saturday 17th March, USN was proud to sponsor the Kensington Bowling Club’s St Patrick’s Day Progressive Bowling competition. This is something that we have supported for many years now, and Mary and Gail from our Monitoring team went along and presented the prizes at the end of the day. It was great to be a part of the day!
- At the end of February we had our belated Christmas dinner for the Comms team who make sure our Monitoring station runs smoothly. It’s hard to get the whole team together as the station runs 24/7, and over the holidays is one of our busiest time for our telephone answering service. It was lovely to get together and celebrate our great year. Clockwise from left: Mary Mackinnon (Kallu), Dan Maxwell, Matthew Dennison, Lee Harris, Robyn Maxwell, Hope Alison, John Kallu and Jan Holwell.
- Every month we attend the City Safe Operations meeting at the Council office. City Safe is a collaborative partnership between Whangarei District Council, Northland Regional Council, New Zealand Police and Chamber of Commerce Northland aimed at ensuring a safer city and community. In practice, City Safe is everyone working together to keep our city and communities safe, working to create a wider partnership network of resources in and around the CBD, suburbs and local communities. You may have seen the City Safe officers around town and in the Cameron St Mall keeping an eye on things! There are a number of local businesses and agencies such as Housing NZ and Manaia PHO that come to these meetings, and they are extremely beneficial in keeping up to date with what is going on in our city. USN also provide the telephone answering service for the City Safe after hours calls.
- We are family and pet friendly here in the USN office on Lower Dent St. Princess is a regular visitor to the office and is seen here hanging out with Mary while she does her work. It has been proven that dogs in the workplace improves the atmosphere and productivity!
